Text Box: This 2500 gallon Terragator, demonstrated recently at Coedmoelon, showed the effectiveness of injecting slurry into the ground. Despite being a big machine, it hardly left a mark in the fields.

Heather McCalman, IGER, gave a short talk on the benefits of effectively using slurry to save money. One of the salient points that came out of the talk was that management of the pit was the most important area in the use of slurry. This should include managing dirty water and rain water. There are some very simple actions that can be taken to control the amount of water entering your slurry pit.

David Bowman, UK Terragator sales, gave an informative talk about the machine and how slurry is used on the continent, where they are required to store all slurry from October to March and then to spread it evenly across all land. In Holland dairy farmers trade their slurry to arable farmers.

Thanks go to Mr & Mrs Richards & Son for the use of their farm, and to Ken Harries Contractors for demonstrating their Terragator.
